The International Air Transport Association, IATA, has assigned the airport and ticketing code to Vlora Airport, VLO. The news was announced on social media by Prime Minister Edi Rama and the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku.
"IATA (International Air Transport Association) has assessed the application of Vlora International Airport in accordance with international standards and has assigned it the airport and ticketing code: VLO."
IATA is the highest standard of air travel according to global standards, safe, with the most powerful airlines, at favorable prices, cheaper than on their official websites, and for this, the travel agency needs to be accredited by IATA.
This allows travel agencies to sell tickets on behalf of market-leading international airlines.
Vlora Airport has a runway designed for 4E aircraft, which are wide-body aircraft, Airbus 330-340, or Boeing 777 that are suitable for accommodation at this airport. One of the connecting roads parallel to the runway is of the same length, 3.2 km and will guarantee higher aircraft movement capacity.
With an area of 309 hectares, a 3.2 km runway and an investment of 104 million euros, this airport aims to give another boost to the development of the area, especially tourism in the country.
