Farmers who cultivate fruit trees in the Myzeqe area have been left at the mercy of increasingly erratic weather conditions for several years. They complain that they have no guidance, much less help, from the agricultural departments in the face of severe climate changes that are damaging their crops year after year.
The climate changes that have been coming and becoming more pronounced in recent years have found Albanian farmers, especially those who cultivate fruit trees, unprepared and consequently unprotected. In Barbullunjë in Lushnja, which is an area known for fruit growing, mainly peach cultivation, farmers say that they have been left at the mercy of weather conditions, seeking help from agricultural authorities and agronomists, who according to them do not leave their offices and have not given them any guidance on how to cope with climate change.
They say that if they make a loss one year, it will have serious economic consequences for them for at least the next three years.
The main part of the fruit production in this area goes all for export and this year production and quality are in the hands of the weather. (A2 Televizion)
