Since the early hours of the morning, the entrance to the Llogara tunnel has been engulfed by heavy traffic, with hundreds of vehicles waiting in line to pass towards the south of the country. The opening of the tunnel has brought a high flow of traffic, causing delays in traffic.
The Llogara Tunnel was officially opened today to all vehicle categories, excluding heavy tonnage vehicles. The Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku, announced that traffic in the tunnel will be free of charge until September 15, in support of the tourist season.
With a length of 6 kilometers, the tunnel avoids the passage through the Llogara Pass and is expected to significantly facilitate travel to southern Albania, writes A2 CNN.
The permitted speed in the tunnel ranges from 50 to 80 km/h, while during the summer up to 10 thousand vehicles are expected to pass through it per day. (A2 Televizion)
