A few days after Prime Minister Edi Rama expressed his strong ambition to strengthen the Albanian Navy with a patrol ship and three warships, it is confirmed that Italy will donate a corvette-type ship to our country.
It is learned that the Cassiopea-class corvette, which has served the Italian Navy, will arrive at the port of Durres on April 8, at 09:00 in the morning.
A ceremony will also be held on the occasion of the donation of the military ship by the Italian government to the Albanian Navy.
The ceremony is expected to be attended by the Italian Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto, while the corvette is expected to be delivered in the company of the pride of the Italian Navy, Amerigo Vespucci.
These types of ships are smaller than destroyers or frigates, but are equipped for various naval tasks, such as coastal defense or surveillance.
The Cassiopea class is a series of four patrol vessels of the Italian Navy, which were built in the late 1980s according to civilian standards and are designed for patrolling in secure areas. (A2 Televizion)
