At a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen revealed what Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested from the leaders participating in the European Political Community summit.
" I think Ukraine is very clear about the way they are handling the situation and the messages they are sending through Europe. There will be some hostages that will be released, but it is expected that Russia will come back and be serious at the table and of course Ukraine said that while we are preparing with the hope of a ceasefire, the war is still going on. The message from Ukraine that we received today is very similar to what they have said before, please give us what we need to defend ourselves ," Frederiksen revealed.
Regarding the relationship between the European Union and the US in this regard, she said that they are in unison regarding sanctions against Russia.
" Regarding sanctions, the US has been very clear so far, what we are asking Russia to do is to do what Ukraine is doing at the table, to implement and enjoy a 30-day ceasefire. We have seen that the US is ready to put more sanctions on the table if Russia does not agree, just as we have and so far we have seen that Russia has not been ready. I advise looking at the banking system, energy, gas and the navy ," the Danish Prime Minister declared. (A2 Televizion)
