Albania will perform on the Eurovision stage today. “Shkodra Elektronike” with Beatriçe Gjergji and Kolë Laca will sing Albanian in Basel, Switzerland.
Prime Minister Edi Rama started this morning on social media by congratulating Albanian representatives on the European stage.
"Good morning and wishing Albania success tonight at Eurovision, with Beatrice and Kola from Shkodra Elektronike, I wish you a good day," Rama writes.
"Zjerm" won the support of the professional jury, the local public and the diaspora to represent Albania in Eurovision, at the 63rd Song Festival at RTSH and comes to the European arena as an interweaving of Albanian tradition with electronic music.
Shkodra Elektronike will perform twelfth in the first semi-final, which will be held in Basel, Switzerland on May 13th.
At the opening ceremony, the band “Shkodra Elektronike” wowed festival fans with a dress handmade by her mother, Irina Dema. Beatrice brought attention to Albanian heritage through the symbolic elements that accompanied the outfit: from traditional motifs, to a special bag, a jewelry box that once belonged to her grandmother.
The costume theme, titled "Grandma's Welcoming Room," conveyed a strong emotional and identity message, which attracted the attention of international media.
The 69th edition of the major European music competition will take place for three consecutive days in Basel, Switzerland, starting on May 13, while the grand final will be held on Saturday, May 17. (A2 Televizion)
