Ryanair has reached a historic record of 200 million passengers in 2024, the highest figure ever for an airline in a single year. The company's CEO, Michael O'Leary, stated this during an interview with CNN , highlighting the company's continued success and growing interest in new destinations in Europe.
Among the countries that have caught the attention of the European aviation giant is Albania, which O'Leary mentioned as a destination with extraordinary growth in tourism. This assessment comes a few months after Ryanair entered the Albanian market, in October 2023, when O'Leary himself visited Tirana to inaugurate the company's first flights from Tirana International Airport, managed by Kastrati Group.
"Albania is a destination that is experiencing significant tourism growth, and this is something that we see very seriously in investing further," O'Leary said in the interview.
This statement reinforces expectations that Ryanair's presence in Albania will continue to expand, bringing a direct impact on economic development, the creation of new jobs and the improvement of the aviation sector in the country.
Since entering the market, Ryanair has offered daily flights to several major European destinations at affordable prices, significantly increasing the mobility of Albanian travelers and positioning Albania closer to the European tourist map.
