Pope Leo XIV has sent a message through a letter to the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania, His Beatitude Joan (head of the Albanian Orthodox Church).

In his letter, Pope Leo XIV thanked John for his participation on May 18 at the Vatican, in the solemn liturgy following the inauguration of his ministry as Bishop of Rome.

He adds that John's visit to the Vatican was a sign of Christian brotherhood and unity of faith, writes A2 CNN.

Letter of Pope Leo XIV to Beatitude Joan:

To His Beatitude, John,

Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and all Albania

These days, after the inauguration of my ministry as Bishop of Rome and Successor of Peter, I am writing to express my profound gratitude for your fraternal closeness and for the love you showed when you participated, together with your distinguished delegation, in the Solemn Liturgy in the Vatican on Sunday, May 18. Your participation touched me deeply, because it is a sign of Christian brotherhood and unity of faith.

As a fellow worker in the Lord’s vineyard, I kindly ask you to continue to support me through your prayers, that Almighty God may strengthen me to serve him and his holy people. As we listen together to what the Holy Spirit says to the churches (Revelation 2:7), let us renew our commitment to foster unity among all Christians, obeying the will of the Lord Jesus (John 17:21), and to work together more fruitfully for reconciliation and harmony in our divided world.

With these sentiments, dear brother, I warmly embrace you with the joy and peace of Christ, our Savior.
