Prime Minister Edi Rama has publicly accused another representative of the justice system of supporting illegal construction. After criticizing the Shkodra prosecutor, Elsa Gjeli, for illegal construction in Theth, Rama has this time targeted judge Hazbi Balliu. According to him, the judge has made a decision that legitimizes an illegal building confiscated by the state in the center of Tirana, which was placed in the function of the State Cadastre Agency. The court has recognized it as the legal property of the builders, imposing a security measure in their favor.
"After Prosecutor Gjeli, who considered the crime of building an entire tourist village without a permit in the heart of Theth, as a natural development and did not even open an investigation at all, openly placing herself in the trench of Anti-Law and Anti-State against the interests of the Republic of Albania, yesterday Judge Balliu appeared in the same trench, who considered an entire palace without a permit confiscated by the state in the middle of Tirana and placed in the function of the State Cadastre Agency, as the legitimate property of the illegal builders, imposing security measures in their favor ," Rama said.
In a post on social media, Rama described this action as a blow to the rule of law and accused prosecutors and judges of maintaining old structures that obstruct justice and protect interests to the detriment of the state.
"Unfortunately, neither Gjeli nor Balliu are the only prosecutors and court officials who are keeping alive in our justice system the old brutal force of Anti-Law and Anti-State to the detriment of the interests of the state, the community and the ordinary people of this country, whenever they are confronted by big business entities."
He raised concern about the lack of response from independent institutions of the justice system, demanding accountability for decisions that, according to him, harm the public interest and the law.
"The question that arises instead of the howl of revolt in this case too is, where are the independent institutions of governance of the judiciary and control of these abusers of the independence of justice, which have long been proving their non-existence in relation to the screaming abuses of prosecutors and judges of every level? The people who vote for us demand accountability from us for the Anti-Law and Anti-State attitudes of the people of justice who are totally independent from the executive. But where can we demand accountability in the name of their interests and the state itself, for these and many other stabs in the back that our Republic and many of its citizens receive from the Roosters and Heads within the justice system, who are paid by Albanian taxes much more than all the other employees of this state."
Rama emphasized that citizens gave him this mandate for justice and warned that justice is delayed but it does not forget.
"One thing is certain: The strong mandate to make Albania a state of law by 2030, a member of the European Union, Albanians did not give us to raise our hands in front of the Roosters of the prosecutor's offices and the Heads of the courts, whether when they kick the Republic or when they punch people who deserve justice, only justice and nothing more or less than justice. Justice is delayed but it does not forget, says the People. For everyone ," Rama concluded. (A2 Televizion)
