For the past few weeks, several consecutive protests have been organized by Albanians in Ulcinj, who oppose a plan by the Montenegrin government to give part of the municipality's coast to foreign investors.
According to the agreement, which the city's residents consider the "sale of Ulcinj", it is envisaged that 12 kilometers of beach will be given to investors for 99 years.
Foreign Minister Igli Hasani was asked on the show "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli about the issue in question and the steps that official Tirana is taking to help the Albanian community in Ulcinj.
The Albanian chief diplomat said that he has had communications with the mayor, Genci Nimanbegu, and that work is being done to offer them communication channels with the Montenegrin government for a more in-depth treatment of the issue.
"The Republic of Albania raised the Albanian flag in Ulcinj, a flag that had not been officially flown since the League of Prizren. I had a very long conversation and a very good discussion with the mayor of Ulcinj and we will continue to not only listen to our brothers and sisters wherever they are but also to start and provide channels of communication with the governments of the countries where they prosper," Hasani declared on "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
