A group of associations, mainly of Albanian Muslim believers, protested this Friday in front of the Parliament building, to oppose the position that Albania has taken on what is happening in the Gaza Strip, writes A2 CNN.
The protest was called after Prime Minister Edi Rama was decorated with the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor by the Muslim Forum of Albania, under the slogan "Not in my name - Rally for Palestine". According to them, the decoration of "Prime Minister Rama by the President of Israel is not done in the name of Albanians, but in the name of the defense that the Prime Minister has made of the genocide in Gaza".
"Rama made a fatal mistake by going to Israel, he has lowered his own values," protester Luljeta Kazazi told A2 CNN. "Our prime minister should not support this ugly crime that Israel is committing."
A few days ago, Prime Minister Edi Rama was awarded the Presidential Medal of Honor by the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog. While receiving the award, Rama said that this is an honor for the example that Albanians gave to the world by not surrendering a single Jew, as well as religious and ethnic tolerance.
The latest war in Gaza began in October 2023, after Hamas militants crossed into Israeli territory, killing over 1,000 people and taking hundreds more hostage. According to local authorities, over 50,000 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli attacks so far, while the vast majority of the enclave has been completely razed. (A2 Televizion)
