In seven counties of the country, there were more deaths than births until September. Korça is the district with the most negative population increase in 9 months this year with 581 more losses than births, followed by Vlora, Fieri, Gjirokastra, Shkodra, Berati and Elbasani.
Tirana recorded the highest population increase in the January-September period with 2,193 more births than deaths. Durrësi, Kukësi, Dibra and Lezha also recorded additions of a positive nature, but in lower numbers than a year ago.
"It is an indicator of the shrinking number of the population living in Albania. The greatest capital of this country is its people, and this capital is shrinking. There are several reasons", said the sociologist Dervishi.
The data from INSTAT show that during the months of January-September, a total of 16 thousand 353 babies were born in the country from over 17 thousand 600 in the same period of the previous year.
"One child is few and two are many. This is actually a world trend, but unlike Albania, other countries have found ways to fill these gaps", says doctor Çelami.
In fact, the data show that more than from the increase of deaths, the natural increase of the population has come from the decrease of births. The reasons are told by them themselves, the new parents who are afraid to become such.
The only positive development in terms of demographics was recorded in deaths. In 9 months, 15,215 people lost their lives, 15.4 percent less than a year ago. (A2 Televizion)
