Following Prime Minister Edi Rama's visit to Israel, where he considered Hamas to be the Nazis of the new century, Foreign Minister Igli Hasani was confronted on "Off the Record" with the question of why Albania is being more harsh with the Palestinians and, on the other hand, patting the back of the government in Tel Aviv.
Hasani stood by the prime minister's statement, saying: " Hamas is a terrorist organization, designed as such by Albania, by the European Union, where we claim to join very soon, and all the international organizations to which we belong. "
"Hamas deserved the narrative that the prime minister gave, and we will continue to maintain this stance," he added.
Asked by moderator Andrea Danglli why the killing of 17,000 children in Gaza and Hamas' massacre of Jews do not carry the same weight for official Tirana, Hasani said that Albania is insisting on a two-state solution to end the war.
" We have been very clear that Albania continues to be in favor of a two-state solution, that is, two entities, Israel and Palestine, having the right to exist together. Albania has recognized Palestine since the late 1980s and continues to recognize it. We are convinced that only through peace, dialogue, and joint commitment will these realities be able to coexist in difficult conditions, in very difficult moments, where human rights have been violated to the maximum. We have always been clear and have conveyed these messages to all our partners. For us, Israel is a friend and partner. For us, the state of Israel has a very valuable contribution to the relationship we have built with the Jewish population, which has been strengthened and consolidated. For us, it is very important that the Palestinian people be represented by entities, political parties, or organizations that are not terrorist and murderous organizations. I do not think that Israel expects our pat on the back, it is a country that pats itself on the back in the best possible way and stands up for itself in difficult moments. "As I said in this whole story and configuration, it is very important that we know how to choose friends and partners, and we have chosen them ," Hasani said on "Off the Record" by Andrea Danglli, on A2 CNN.
