Prime Minister Edi Rama has honored the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Muhammed Bin Zayed, with the title of "Star of Public Gratitude." In his speech, the head of the Albanian government praised the assistance of the United Arab Emirates in difficult moments for our people, such as the ethnic cleansing in Kosovo and the devastating earthquake of 2019.
"It is a great honor to welcome you for the second time in our country. I will never forget when I came to you after the devastating earthquake, you told me that you and your people are not alone," recalled the head of the Albanian government.
"For your unwavering commitment to the strategic relationship between our two countries, for your fraternal contribution in times of need for our people, for your contribution to the global cause of peace and cooperation, I present you with the Grand Order with the Star of Public Gratitude. May God always protect you and bless both our peoples!" said Rama.
He told him that the colors of this order symbolize not only our national colors, but also the surrender of oneself to divine providence in the service of others. According to him, Fan Noli was inspired by these colors. Rama emphasized that the order of this Star Order is inspired by the seal of Skanderbeg and the 36 letters of our alphabet, while its composition brings the seal of Solomon.
"The red and black of our flag are not only our national colors. They symbolize above all the surrender of ourselves to divine providence in the service of others and the blood that our brothers gave for this land, which must never be shed in vain. These same colors inspired a hymn written a century ago by a great Albanian poet, an Orthodox bishop and one-time Prime Minister:
"A banner that gave birth to Saint Constantine,
It unites the Cross and the Crescent Sign,
Proclaim all faiths as divine brothers,
"A noble flag for all humanity."
The star of this Order, with its sharp shape, is inspired by the seal of our national hero, Skanderbeg, and by the 36 letters of our alphabet. Its composition also recalls the Seal of Solomon — Suleiman, the king of peace — whose spirit and legacy shine through in your own leadership: as a father, a statesman, a global leader, as a man of deep faith and culture.
In a word: as a guide for humanity."
