The Special Prosecutor's Office, SPAK, demands a 4-year prison sentence for Joana Duro, the former General Secretary of the Ministry of Health, accused of "passive corruption of high state officials".
Duro is accused by SPAK of accepting a bribe of 330,000 ALL to favor a company in a tendering procedure for the supervision of the reconstruction of several health centers in Tirana and Durrës.
For her co-defendant, Laura Shteto, high-level specialist, SPAK asked for 1 year and 6 months in prison. As for the defendants Vladimir Topi and Silvi Shehu, Spak requested a guilty declaration and respective sentences of 2 years and 1 year and 6 months in prison. Due to the shortened trial, the defendants were reduced by 1/3 of the amount of the requested penalties. (A2 Televizion)
