Anti-Albanian chants in the North Macedonia – Romania match, Mickoski

The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, has reacted harshly to xenophobic and nationalist chants that were heard during the basketball match between Macedonia and Romania, held in Kumanovo.

In a response to the media, Mickoski stressed that fan groups should support their teams in a sporting manner and refrain from any form of insult or discrimination, writes A2 CNN.

"During the match, I did not notice this behavior at all, because it was a very small group of people. But, I want to use this opportunity to join in condemning any form of nationalism and xenophobia that occurred in this match. I call on all fans to support our national team in a dignified and sporting manner. This is what this Government supports," said Mickoski.

He added that any incident of this type will be subject to investigation and punishment, regardless of who it comes from. (A2 Televizion)
