Solar power plants will be allowed to be built on agricultural and forest lands, meadows and pastures that are owned by the state.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has issued for public consultation a draft law that paves the way for the leasing of these lands, which until now were not allowed to be developed, writes A2 CNN.

"In the case where the investor received the status of strategic investor for projects for the development of agricultural activity, as well as aquaponics on agricultural land, there was a legal obstacle to concluding the contract by the institution of the Ministry of Rural Development and Local Development, as it conflicts with the sectoral legislation on the leasing of state land," said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The draft law also defines the types of land that will be leased for these investments. At the same time, there will be changes in allowing state land for other technologies, which are: aquaponics, aeroponics and hydroponics.

"Agricultural lands of category 9 and 10 of creditworthiness under the administration of the ministry responsible for agriculture are allowed to be granted for photovoltaic activity only to strategic investors according to the decision of the Strategic Investment Committee," said the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The Ministry of Agriculture states in the draft law that the use of new technologies will influence the increase in agricultural production and new investments.

For those investors who want to invest in greenhouses or supporting infrastructure, they can lease state land for a period of 30 years. (A2 Televizion)
