After the good reputation that emerged during 2023, accompanied by the curiosity that continued during last year... More tourists are coming to Albania this beginning of the year.
Data from the Institute of Statistics shows that in January-February, over 1.1 million foreigners visited the country, 606 thousand more than compared to the same period a year ago.
"We can now say that we have year-round tourism. We have moved beyond seasonality and have a genuine industry," Herida Duro, Director of Tourism Development at MTM, told A2 CNN.
The majority of those who visited the country in the first two months of the year were European vacationers, followed by those from the United States, America, Asia and Africa.
"What we will actually continue to want again is to have a season or a year-round tourism, diversified in its offer. Expanded in territory, in time and above all, valued and offered a sustainable standard and professionalism for the tourist infrastructure", added Duro.
Learning from past mistakes, guided by the experience of successful countries, the country is now changing its approach to tourism, aiming more for money than for numbers of foreigners.
“We aim to be at the top of the UN Tourism Barometer as we have been rated in recent years for the highest growth rate.”
Data from INSTAT, meanwhile, show that in the period between January and February, 1.1 million foreigners left the country, an increase of 9.6 percent compared to a year earlier. (A2 Televizion)
