He escaped from Shnkokolli prison and enjoyed freedom for two months. Daut Laze was declared the most wanted person by the State Police, for whose capture they offered a reward of 10 thousand euros.
He was arrested by officers from Police Station No. 6 who had received information that Daut Laze was going to his apartment in the Astir area. He told the police that he was hiding in several mosques in Tirana during his escape, mainly in the Fresku, Kombinati, Yzberishti and Astir areas.
The 49-year-old claimed that he received food from Muslim believers during the month of Ramadan. For two months, the officers had been searching his apartment from time to time, but they had not found him. According to sources, the family members have not been cooperative with the police. It is suspected that Daut Laze has also been staying in the apartment since the information they had provided indicated that the fugitive had been seen several times in the area.
Daut Laze was arrested on November 16, 2021 for domestic violence. On November 4 of last year, the Tirana Court decided to sentence him to "Compulsory treatment in a hospital institution", a sentence he was serving in Shenkoll prison in Lezha, where all prisoners with mental health problems were moved after the closure of Zaharia due to inhumane conditions.
