Dritan Rexhepi is extradited, sentenced to 25 years in prison, also accused of

Dritan Rexhepi, one of the most wanted Albanians internationally, is extradited from Turkey to our country. The known as the cocaine baron was escorted to Rinas Airport under strict security measures. As soon as he set foot on Albanian soil, he was sent with strict measures to prison 313 Jordan Misja, in Tirana, waiting to appear before the black squads and to face the serious charges that weigh on him.

Dritan Rexhepi, also known as Gramoz, was arrested in November 2023 in a villa in Istanbul, while using a forged Colombian passport. Since his arrest, Albania has been in a race with 3 other countries to convince the Turkish authorities to extradite, including Italy, the United Kingdom and Ecuador, while the file with SPAK's recorded evidence apparently convinced the Turkish authorities that Dritan Rexhepi surrendered for the sake of justice in his country.

He is accused of his role as an orderly in the kidnapping and murder of Jan Prenga in January 2020, whose body has not yet been discovered. The order for the kidnapping and disappearance of Jan Prenga on January 17, 2020 in Kamze, was given after suspecting that in 2019, Jan Prenga's brother, Astrit Prenga, had stolen a container of cocaine owned by him and his associates in England.

But in the meantime Dritan Rexhepin is burdened by a 2013 decision of 25 years in prison for the murder of two people in Fushë Krujë in 1999, one of them policeman Durim Kasmi.

Dritan Rexhepin's history of problems in domestic and foreign justice begins in 2006 when he was arrested in Tirana with an illegal weapon, while he escaped from the interrogation room in Durrës. Two years later he was arrested in the Netherlands and extradited to Italy, sentenced to 15 years in prison for drug trafficking, 13 of which have not been served since he escaped in 2011. That same year he was arrested in Spain and extradited to Belgium, also for drug trafficking, where he escaped again.

He became one of the barons of the cocaine cartels from Latin America. In 2014, Dritan Rexhepi was arrested in Ecuador with 240 kg of cocaine, but he is suspected of running the cocaine trafficking network to Europe from his cell. In 2020, Interpol published some pictures of him from inside a prison in Ecuador. That same year, his network was destroyed by a Europol operation, in which our State Police was also involved.

His last arrest was made in Turkey in 2023 and since then Albanian justice insisted on the extradition carried out on Wednesday, January 8, 2025. (A2 Televizion)
