Tirana's Traffic Police shed light on the dynamics of the serious accident on Wednesday evening on the Vorë - Fushë-Krujë axis, where four young people, Enejdi and Erild Laçi, two brothers, their cousin, Andi Laçi, and their friend, Endrikejd Kurti, lost their lives, writes A2 CNN. According to security camera footage along the area, their Benz first overtook two trucks and then the fatal collision occurred with the concrete mixer that had stopped on the road. According to the police, it did not even have the ignition on.
When questioned, the 24-year-old driver of the concrete mixer, Aleksandër Krrashi, stated that he stopped after running out of fuel and went to a gas station to get diesel. He had forgotten to turn on the traffic light, one of the main traffic rules.
Investigators suspect that the cause of the fatal accident was two factors: the speed of the four boys' vehicle exceeding the permitted speed limit, around 200 km/h, and the lack of visibility when they overtook the other two trucks and were unable to see the stopped concrete mixer.
The young people were returning from Rinas Airport where they had picked up 20-year-old Erild Laçi, one of the two brothers who were victims, from Germany.
After the tragic accident, the police arrested the driver of the concrete mixer, who initially fled the scene. He did not even have a license to drive heavy transport vehicles. His cousin Valentin Krrashi, who helped him leave the scene, was also arrested, as was the manager of the company that had employed the 24-year-old, Danjel Koxha. The owner of the concrete-producing company, Saimir Hoxha, was declared wanted. (A2 Televizion)
