An international operation coordinated by Europol to crack down on child pornography networks online has also brought a 29-year-old from Tirana to justice.
The police announce that as part of the codenamed "Stream" operation against the sexual exploitation of minors on the internet, which extended to 35 countries, the apartment of the person in question was searched, where several electronic devices were seized.
"The Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes in the State Police, following information received from the German police authorities and EUROPOL that an Albanian citizen was also implicated in this criminal activity, has referred the procedural materials to the Tirana Prosecutor's Office, which has registered a proceeding for the criminal offense of "Pornography" with minors. As a result of the investigative and procedural actions carried out by the Directorate for the Investigation of Cybercrimes and the Directorate of the Special Operational Force, the identification of the suspect, citizen MZ, 29 years old, resident of Tirana, was made possible. Also, the decision of the First Instance Court of General Jurisdiction of Tirana was executed, to conduct searches in the apartment of the 29-year-old, where 3 mobile phones and 1 laptop were seized for the purpose of the investigation", the police announced.
It is further reported that the seized devices have been sent for further computer examinations, while investigations continue in our country to fully document this criminal activity.
Meanwhile, the international operation "Stream" was led by the Bavarian State Criminal Police and the Bavarian Central Office for the Prosecution of Cybercrime (ZCB), and was supported by EUROPOL.
