The Special Court sentenced the former Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment, as well as former socialist MP Alqi Bllako, to 4 years in prison for the Tirana incinerator.

Due to the shortened trial, the former socialist legislator will ultimately have to serve 2 years and 8 months in prison. In addition to the prison sentence, the court also imposed an additional sentence, prohibiting Alqi Bllako from exercising any public function for a period of 5 years.

The former MP was found guilty of passive corruption in two cases related to the Tirana incinerator case. According to SPAK investigations, it was a payment of 120 thousand euros from Klodian Zoto's company for the brewery of the former SP MP's father and the employment of businessman Klodian Zoto as an external advisor to Vladimir Bezhani, with Bllako's influence. The Special Prosecution, in its claim, requested that Bllako be sentenced to 5 years in prison.

This is not the first conviction for the former MP. Bllako was sentenced by the Special Appeal to 4 years in prison for abuse of office for the Elbasan incinerator, a sentence that was harsher after the First Instance Court had declared him innocent.

Even for the Elbasan incinerator case, the sentence was commuted to 2 years and 8 months in prison, while the trial for the Fier incinerator continues to be open in the Special Court. (A2 Televizion)
