An Italian police operation in Florence has led to the arrest of an Albanian couple suspected of international drug trafficking. The two young men, aged 38 and 25, were caught red-handed with 23 kilograms of pure cocaine.
The operation took place in the Greve in Chianti area, where agents had set up surveillance at the 38-year-old's apartment, located on Via Zani. After a period of undercover investigation, officers noticed suspicious movements from the suspect, who left the apartment with a bag in his hand and placed it in his car.
The immediate intervention of the police revealed that the bag contained six packages of cocaine wrapped in blue plastic, marked with the code '357', which is suspected to be an identification code of the criminal group that ordered the narcotics.
A few minutes later, his 25-year-old partner arrived at the scene, who attempted to flee quickly when she saw the police, but was stopped after a short chase.
Further searches in the apartment revealed 14 more packages of cocaine with the same characteristics, hidden in a closet, as well as an amount of 11,450 euros in a safe.
The two arrested were taken to the Sollicciano prison, awaiting a security measure.
