The Prosecutor's Office Against Corruption and Organized Crime has closed the investigation into the drug laboratory in Frakull of Fier.
Defendants in this case are the former mayor, Viktor Červenaku, his brother, Zenel Červenaku, son Denilson Červenaku and the latter's fiancee Enxhi Ferhati, as well as citizens Nikolin Gjolena, who is suspected to be the head of the group, Klajdi Vrioni, Julian Malaj, Redion Meshi, Bledar Matoshi and Marildo Rona.
The defendants are accused of involvement in the trafficking of 485.5 kg of cocaine from Colombia dissolved in 600 bags of chemical fertilizer found in the yard of the Cervenaku family.
The drug was discovered by a well-organized action by SPAK, DEA and the Montenegrin police, after an investigation of about 3 months. The drug came from Colombia, while in Albania it was processed for the European market.
Two of its Colombian handlers managed to escape and have not yet been caught more than 12 months after the operation. (A2 Televizion)
