The repentant justice official, Artan Tafani, testified today in the Special Court regarding the murder of Fridman Xhaferri by Laert Haxhiu's group.
Tafani said that after a phone call he received, Laert Haxhiu, while they were in Greece, gave the order to go to Korça and kill Fridman Xhaferri.
He added that they also joked along the way, with Marigleni saying to Laerti, "Oh, let me do it, let me learn the ropes," writes A2 CNN.
Tafani further added that they took Xhaferri in the car, but did not tell him where they were going. He further added that they then went near a reservoir, where they killed Fridman Xhaferri and submerged his body under water.
Excerpt from the testimony in the Criminal Court:
Tafani: Ligori called Laerti on his cell phone and told him that Klisman Xhaferri had been talking to someone on his cell phone about a business deal. Laerti told us, as we were at the hotel, 'get up, we're going to Korça to kill him.'
Tafani: When we left for Korça, Laerti, Lulzimi and I, the latter got a pistol from a garage where they kept these weapons and a car with a boot, we stopped in Pogradec where we met Bledar Berberi and Marigle Topuzi and we took them in the car. Laerti was looking for a place to dump the body on the way and Bledar had an email chat. We saw a tank. On the way they also joked, with Marigleni saying to Laerti "oh lala let me do it, I'll learn the ropes".
Tafani: Marigleni and Bledari then got out of the car, we headed to Korça. At a reservoir we went to, Laerti didn't like the place. Bledar Berberi and Marigleni Topuzi recommended it, Laerti and I went to Korça, Laerti and Lulzim went to Ligor Romaçka's house, we set off for the Gjankshi reservoir, Ligori took us as a local, Laerti liked it. I left Lulzim there, we went and got a rope and a car tire, we took Fridman in the car, but we didn't tell him where we were going. We told him we were going to pack hashish. When we arrived, Laerti said to Fridman, what was that conversation you had, 'I'll talk if you don't get me out of prison', he said no and cried, poor thing, he begged Marius to tell me, tell him to forgive me. Lulzim shot him once, catching him in the head, but he dodged. Then Laertes told Lulzim to kill him, shot him in the back of the head, but he was still moving, still breathing. Then we hit him with that tire, tied him to it and put him in the tank, tied his body with a tire to sink him in the water.
