After citizens reported through a portal that a police vehicle had made a wrongful overtaking in the Murriz tunnel, the Dibra Traffic Police took action, punishing the officer driving the blue uniformed vehicle.
"Regarding a video posted on the social network "JOQ Albania", which shows a police vehicle overtaking inside the Murriz tunnel, the driver of the Police vehicle of the Mat Police Station, Police employee, Inspector AS, was immediately identified. For the violation committed, the Dibra Traffic Police has imposed an administrative measure worth 40,000 new lek and the driver of the vehicle has had 15 points deducted from his Driving License," the police statement said.
Also, due to the serious violation committed, a disciplinary investigation has been initiated against the Mati Police Station officer.
"In this case, the Director General of the State Police, given the fact that the violation was committed by a police officer and with a police vehicle, a violation that has an impact on citizens and damages the image of the State Police, has ordered the Directorate of Professional Standards in the State Police to initiate a disciplinary investigation against the driver of the vehicle and the chief of the Mat Police Station, who was traveling with the vehicle found to be in violation," the announcement further states.
The chief of the police station in question will also be subject to a disciplinary investigation, as he was traveling in the vehicle in question at the moment when the inspector with the initials AS made the wrong overtaking move.
