Daut Laze, a convicted domestic violence inmate, escapes from Shënkoll prison in Lezha. The 49-year-old from Çorovoda, but residing in Tirana, was hospitalized in the treatment room and in the early hours of this Tuesday morning, he escaped from there by climbing over the wall. His absence from the room was noticed during the construction of the shifts and the execution of the appeal.
"We went to Daut Laze's house and the mother told us that she learned the news that her son had escaped from the police officer who had checked them after his escape. According to the mother, the violence that Daut exercised was not physical, but sought to force them to practice religion," reported A2 CNN journalist Jensila Kodra.
He was arrested on November 16, 2021 for domestic violence, based on a complaint that his mother says did not come from them. On November 4 of last year, the Tirana Court decided to sentence him to “Compulsory treatment in a hospital institution.” He was serving this sentence in Shenkoll prison, where all prisoners with mental health problems were moved after the closure of Zaharia prison due to inhumane conditions.
Police call Daut Lazen a high-risk person and appealed to citizens to notify law enforcement of any information they may have about his whereabouts. The reward in return will be 10,000 euros. (A2 Televizion)
