The State Police has issued a press release announcing that the former leader of the Durrës gang, Lulzim Berisha, has been extradited from Spain. The Blues consider the 54-year-old a citizen of high social risk, accused of several criminal acts against life.
"The operation to capture him in Spain, codenamed "Sant Joan", was finalized on December 14, 2023, as a result of close cooperation between FAST Albania and FAST Spain. Following this cooperation, Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid finalized the procedure for the extradition from Spain to Albania of the Albanian citizen, declared internationally wanted, LB, 54 years old. In 2020, he was assigned by the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime, the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Premeditated murder", "Murder under qualifying circumstances", against 2 or more persons and "Unauthorized possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition", committed in the form of a structured criminal group", the police inform.
Further, the Albanian authorities explain that in collaboration with other citizens, Lulzim Berisha is suspected of having, in 2004, wounded with a firearm, citizens VL and Xh. N., while in 2005, near the village of Koxhaj, he killed with a firearm, citizen KS and wounded citizen OT.
According to the police, it is also suspected that the former leader of the Durrës gang, "in 2005, killed citizens VL and AA, with explosives placed in an elevator cabin." (A2 Televizion)
