Two apartments were destroyed by fire on Friday afternoon in Gjirokastra.
Within a short period of time, two apartments in the "Granicë" neighborhood and the "18 Shtatori" neighborhood were engulfed in flames, but the quick intervention of firefighters prevented them from spreading.
According to the Gjirokastra Fire Department, the notification was received at around 3:30 PM and 9 officers with two fire engines, a support vehicle and the Iveko Bot special vehicle immediately headed to the scene.
In the "Granicë" neighborhood, a fire had engulfed an outdoor area of a house, used for storing old household appliances. Thanks to quick intervention, the flames were extinguished without causing any damage.
The situation was more serious in the "18 Shtatori" neighborhood, where a fire engulfed the second floor of a building, caused by a defect in the air conditioning. Flames and smoke spread to the third floor, but the immediate intervention of firefighters made it possible to isolate and completely extinguish it, preventing the danger to other apartments.
As a safety measure, the electricity supply to the "18 Shtatori" neighborhood was temporarily cut off. Investigations into the full causes of the fires are ongoing. (A2 Televizion)
