A 38-year-old Albanian man has tragically lost his life in Nettuno, Italy, after crashing into a telephone pole during a police chase. The incident occurred on Saturday evening, around 8:30 p.m., in the Tre Cancelli area of the city near Rome.
According to Italian police sources, two vehicles traveling at high speed passed in front of two civilian police patrols. One of the patrols followed one of the cars, which was stopped a few minutes later and contained a 26-year-old Italian citizen. While the other patrol began pursuing a Fiat 500 car, driven by a 38-year-old Albanian.
During the pursuit, the Albanian's car entered an unpaved road, raising a large cloud of dust that obstructed visibility. In an attempt to escape, the vehicle lost control, crashed into a telephone pole and then overturned.
After the accident, the police approached him to provide first aid, but, unfortunately, the Albanian had died at the scene.
Preliminary investigations show that a bag with 23 packages containing a total of 25 kilograms of cocaine was found in his car. The victim's body was sent to the Tor Vergata Polyclinic for an autopsy, while the Italian citizen has been arrested for drug possession with the intent to distribute and is awaiting a security measure from the court.
