The motives for the murder of the 24-year-old Palestinian woman by her 49-year-old husband of the same nationality remain a mystery to the investigative team.
The police were able to uncover the dynamics and chronology of what has happened since February 19, when the foreign couple arrived in Tirana via Rinas Airport. It is learned that they live in Germany, but upon entering our country they presented themselves with Greek documents.
After arriving in Rinas, 24-year-old Rayyan Alwan and 49-year-old Fadi Alwan took a taxi and went to "Gjon Muzaka" Street, where they had also booked a rented apartment, the location where the macabre crime was committed.
But security cameras showed that three days later, on February 22, the 49-year-old left Rinas airport alone, with the same Greek documents. His destination was not Germany, but this time Athens.
The investigation team suspects that the young woman's murder occurred between February 19 and 22, a time that will be clearly determined by forensic medicine.
The case was reported to the police by the owner of the apartment who had rented the premises. She told the police that she had not seen the couple move in the last few days and that is why she entered the apartment and discovered the girl's lifeless body.
Investigators had a hard time learning their identities and origins. But a phone call made by the 49-year-old man who booked the apartment for rent revealed everything. Through the contact officer that the Albanian authorities have in Germany, they found out who the mobile phone number belonged to, and he then told the investigative team that the call from Germany to Albania was made by 49-year-old Fadi Alwan.
But, to be even more convinced, the police made photos of the couple available to the owner of the apartment, who confirmed that it was exactly the couple she had met.
After the crime, the police did not find any means of identification of the girl, money or the knife used in the murder in the apartment, which are thought to have been taken by her husband. The latter has already been declared an international wanted man and is expected to be located and brought before Albanian justice on charges of murder. (A2 Televizion)
