The administrator of a call center in Tirana has been arrested and 13 of his employees have been prosecuted for defrauding foreign citizens over the phone into investing in fictitious stock exchanges, A2 CNN reports.
Specialists of the Economic and Financial Crimes Investigation Section, at the Tirana Police Department, in cooperation with the Cybercrimes Investigation Directorate and under the direction of the Prosecutor's Office at the Tirana Court of First Instance, after thorough investigative work, successfully organized and finalized the police operation codenamed "Location". As a result of this operation, citizen RL, 39 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto.
Citizen RL, was administering an unlicensed entity, with undeclared activity to the competent authorities, on “Themistokli Gërmenji” street, which they had adapted as a call center. During the intervention by the Police services, 13 operators were caught red-handed while deceiving foreign citizens to invest in a fictitious stock exchange.
