Interpol Tirana, in cooperation with the authorities of Interpol Ankara and Interpol Athens, has finalized the procedures for the extradition of two internationally wanted citizens.
A 59-year-old man with the initials IA, born in Bulgaria, was extradited to Greece on charges of illegal adoption mediation. He is suspected of organizing cases of giving up for adoption babies born to pregnant women in difficult economic conditions, in return for payments ranging from 2,000 to 4,000 euros per case.
"IA, 59 years old, born in Bulgaria, because he was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Athens, on the accusation that in collaboration with others, he found pregnant women (in economic difficulties), whom he took to Greece to give birth and then mediated for the baby to be given up for adoption. From this criminal activity, this citizen is suspected of having benefited from 2000-4000 euros/case. He has been arrested by the Korça Border Police services", the Police announced.
Meanwhile, citizen Burak Kara, 39 years old, was extradited to Turkey, sentenced to 8 years and 4 months in prison by the Mersin Court for committing sexual intercourse with violence in 2011. He has about 4 and a half years left to serve of this sentence.
"Burak Kara, 39 years old, born in Turkey, because the Mersin Court, in 2022, sentenced this citizen to 8 years and 4 months in prison, after in 2011, while drunk, he had sexual intercourse with a Turkish citizen by force, in the apartment of another Turkish citizen, in Mersin. From the sentence, the 39-year-old has about 4 and a half years left to serve in prison."
Both extraditions were carried out after the necessary arrests and legal verifications by the Albanian authorities.
