Two foreign tourists who were sailing on a sailboat, which suffered a defect, in the open sea opposite the Bay of Grama, were rescued by the Border Police and the Vlora Coast Guard.
According to police, the vessel suffered an engine failure and was left in the middle of the sea, exposed to dangerous waves.
The Local Directorate for Border and Migration in Vlora explains that they acted by organizing a rescue operation after receiving an urgent notification of two foreign citizens in difficulty, about 5 miles off the coast.
The Border Police's floating units headed towards the given coordinates, while at the same time the land border patrol monitored the situation from the shore. After several hours of efforts and in difficult sea conditions, it was possible to locate and assist the sailboat in cooperation with the Coast Guard crew.
The sailboat was safely escorted to the Bay of Porto Palermo, while the two foreign nationals are in good health. Meanwhile, coastal authorities call on all boaters to take safety precautions and report immediately in case of emergency. (A2 Televizion)
