With the call "Long Live Albania" and with the national flag waving, Sali Berisha closed the national protest called by the Democratic Party this Saturday, where a call was made for a technical government and the corruption of the Rama government was condemned.
The opposition rally lasted only an hour. At 5:40, Sali Berisha, after marching from the blue headquarters, arrived at the "Martyrs of the Nation" boulevard and at 6:43, he left the stage, while the protesters dispersed immediately after him.
The rally was organized in a format where speeches were heard from three main allies, Fatmir Mediu, Agron Duka, and the leader of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, who addressed the protesters with an audio message from cell number 5.
After them, Berisha's speech lasted 30 minutes and focused on accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama and his cabinet, Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj, but also on the call for the Diaspora to vote for the Democratic Party in the May 11 elections.
Despite the apparent lack of the nerve of previous protests, as well as the Molotov cocktails, three police officers were injured when, as Berisha ascended the podium, protesters threw tear gas canisters and smoke bombs at the cordon set up in front of the Prime Minister's Office. One police officer suffered eye injuries, one officer suffered a hand injury, and another sustained a face injury.
Meanwhile, Berisha immediately after the rally left for Rinas International Airport, from where he will fly to Italy at 9:00 PM. The leader of the Democrat Party will stop in Rome, where he will meet with Albanian immigrants living in the Italian capital tomorrow, as part of his Diaspora tour. (A2 Televizion)
