Amidst ovations and chants of "Rama out," Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha took the floor at the protest outside Edi Rama's office.
Berisha went back in time a year ago, when he addressed protesters from his home through a video message under the security measure of "house arrest" as if to show that the DP is stronger today since its leader has gained freedom.
"I begin my speech with a humble bow before you. With a brotherly thank you and my congratulations to all of you, democrats and oppositionists. In a short time we have done a lot. Let's go back just a year ago, last February. We were here in the square at the protest where the leader of the opposition was arrested in violation of the law and the Constitution. And I delivered my speech from a television screen, a political prisoner. But in that protest we laid the foundations of every victory we deserve and will have. In that protest we proved to Albanians that we rose from the ashes like a phoenix, and those who thought they would defeat us failed shamefully. We are invincible because we united. Because we defend a just cause. Because we defend the most achieved values of man, national interest, dignity, family, nation."
The opposition leader underlined that today's Democratic Party is one that, united, will overthrow a dictatorship in Albania for the second time.
"We come here today as an opposition to the impossible, made possible. As the DP that makes the impossible possible. Today we have a seal and a flag and we are more united than ever. Today we are the most supported political force. Today we are on our feet, more determined than ever in the battle with the dictatorship. History willed that we be the only political force that overthrew two dictatorships one after the other. The Stalinist dictatorship and the narco-dictatorship of the bastard of the communist bloc, Edi Rama." (A2 Televizion)
