The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, on the 14th anniversary of the January 21 protest, declared that he supports any investigation to fully clarify the incident. From the blue headquarters, the opposition leader stated that the one obstructing the investigations is Edi Rama.
Berisha added that the rally in which 4 protesters were killed had political goals and was the most violent that Albania has ever had, holding Rama responsible for the event.
"I have expressed, I express and I will express, I support any kind of investigation into this event, but I also declare that there is nothing else but to escape the responsibility of the one who organized the most violent protest for the purposes of his power, Edi Rama."
Berisha, who was prime minister at the time the protest took place, claimed that he had expressed regret for the victims the night of the rally.
"I expressed my condolences for the victims not 14 years later, but at 7 pm that night. I demanded an international investigation. The most serious international institutions have stated that that violent protest had a political agenda."
The leader of the Democrats returned to old accusations against former Chief Prosecutor Ina Rama, who, according to him, refused an international investigation into the incident, which is currently being investigated by the Special Prosecution Office. (A2 Televizion)
