The 16th anniversary of Albania's membership in NATO gave Prime Minister Rama, accompanied by the Minister of Defense, Pirro Vengu, the opportunity to visit the Zall Herri military unit, where they discussed not only the achievements of these years, but also those considered challenges for the Armed Forces.
After highlighting the difference in defense spending between his government and his predecessors, Prime Minister Rama emphasized that the goal for the future should be the creation of a national defense industry, based on domestic production.
"Creating our national defense industry is a priority. We know how the material base of the armed forces was destroyed. We know very well how we emerged from the abyss into which the armed forces fell. We have the conditions and opportunities to build an industry that will give us not only back a missing asset of Albania, the asset of the military industry, but also a new capacity, to raise the level of the Armed Forces and increase their efficiency. That is why we also have a team for this, not only the minister, but also the deputy minister."
Even the approach to military properties must change, Rama emphasized, to turn them into profitable ones.
The Prime Minister reiterated that he stands by his commitment to ensuring that military personnel are paid at the NATO average, an objective he said he is approaching, although several steps are still needed. (A2 Televizion)
