From cell number 5 where he has been for 3 months, the President of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, spoke exclusively for the show "Debat" on A2 CNN. Even though he has been in the cell for more than 90 days, Meta says that he feels freer than before and that his rights will prevail.
He calls his imprisonment "exile" to prevent him from defending himself in public. Therefore, he states that there are no charges, despite the fact that SPAK continued the investigation even while he was in detention.

Mr. Meta, it has been more than 3 months since you were arrested. First of all, how has this period of isolation been for you?
Ilir Meta: Greetings Alba and congratulations to you and your staff from Cell No. 5.
I was not arrested, but as the entire public opinion saw, I was kidnapped by masked, unidentified thugs, without any arrest warrant, and I was forcibly put into a car with private license plates.
So I am publicly kidnapped like no one in the Council of Europe or NATO countries.
There have certainly been such cases in Belarus, where a few days ago, Lukashenko "triumphed" for a 7th consecutive term by "competing" with some 0.99 type puppet candidates like these "opposition" parties that "Rilindja" creates and recreates here on the eve of every election.
Here too, since the usurper of all power seeks to "win" a fourth term by competing with his 0.99, he ordered my criminal kidnapping, just as he ordered the arrest of Mr. Berisha 14 months ago and most recently this absurd measure for his appearance at SPAK, which has closed the investigations.
Just as he has ordered the political imprisonment of the Deputy Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, Ervin Salianji, just as he has ordered the persecution of the Chairman of the PR, Mr. Mediu, in contradiction to every principle of the Rule of Law, just as he has publicly ordered the kidnapping of Mr. Fredi Beleri two days before the local elections, and so on.
I am truly extremely isolated and still live in a 12 square meter cell, but I feel even freer than before and just as confident that justice and truth will triumph over the injustice of Ramaforma, who seeks a lifetime mandate by destroying political pluralism and free elections, to guarantee the impunity of the "Head of the Organization" and the Narcoregime.
Have contacts with family members and colleagues in PL been difficult?
Ilir Meta: I only meet with my family members once a week like all other detainees and I have no complaints in this regard.
But of course I was kidnapped here to be extremely deprived of the possibility of meetings or communications with my associates and all members and supporters of the Freedom Party.
Likewise, to prevent me from communicating directly with you and all journalists, analysts, and citizens.
I have been "exiled" here to prevent me from not only defending myself in public against all the pseudo-accusations, but above all to unveil the Freedom Party's wonderful and concrete program of 5 priorities for 4 million plus Albanians.
I am being held hostage here because the "Nevada Triangle", McKonigal-Rama-Dumani, want to completely annihilate, along with political pluralism, the sovereignty of the Albanian people and every national interest, by Russifying every institution of the State and every cell of society, including the dissolution of the family.
After being questioned several times while you were in Liri, you were questioned once again by SPAK prosecutors after your arrest. Are there any new details about the file and the charges that SPAK has filed against you?
Ilir Meta: There is no evidence or criminal fact related to Ilir Meta during his 32 years of public service.
There is no letter or official act from Ilir Meta that has damaged the state budget by a penny or that has violated the law.
Meanwhile, there are numerous violations of the law and illegal favoritism that the usurper of all powers has committed with his signature, which SPAK is terrified to see, let alone investigate.
His signature is enough to give the bonus to the company that had not yet been created, to be a defendant and outside the Prime Minister's office.
In addition to the 17 government decisions approved within a day regarding incinerators, while its Director of Procurement had been warned in an official letter that the procedure was illegal. And dozens of other cases.
The latest evidence of former Deputy Prime Minister Ahmetaj that it was this Chairman of the Organization (Rama) who in 2017 forced Mayor Veliaj to usurp the legal competence of the Tirana Municipal Council, and with his signature pave the way for the incinerator that does not exist, is the strongest public evidence of why SPAK and Dumani did not see this document as illegal and with very serious financial consequences 5 years after the creation of SPAK.
Because it is "de jure" Veliaj's firm but "de facto" Rama's firm, SPAK turned a blind eye to the "crocodile" and pursued "Harabel" with direction so that the latter does not violate Duman's boss, Edi Rama.
Don't forget the order Rama gave to Veliaj, to do this without the LSI knowing. Because the LSI had 12 Councilors in the Municipality of Tirana and the President of the Council, it illegally avoided the Council.
In the last call from SPAK, I was asked again about the lobbying issue, which I have publicly exhausted in time, because I have neither signed for payments nor authorized anyone to carry out illegal actions.
Likewise, every decision was made in the SMI Presidency regarding lobbying during the time I was its Chairman.
Likewise, as you know, no one has been convicted in the US for illegal actions on behalf of or in the interest of Ilir Meta. While at least two people have been convicted for Edi Rama.
The first was Bilal, who took Edi Rama as his wife to take illegal photos with President Obama, and the second, known around the world, former FBI director Carls Mckonigal, who is serving his sentence after pleading guilty and making a deal.
But while the corrupt person is serving his sentence there, his corruptor here continues to praise his creation SPAK - who has locked this file in a safe, where there are also many other McConaugheys.
Do you expect to have a more easing measure before the May 11 elections?
Ilir Meta: I don't expect any mitigating measures because this whole charade was concocted to block my political activity, because otherwise we would have a fair legal process and you would have had me in the studio and asked me questions directly and I would have answered them as well.
Will you be like PL together with DP, as Mr. Berisha has actually stated publicly?
Ilir Meta: The Freedom Party will always be a true opposition and for this purpose will cooperate with the Democratic Party in the interest of protecting political pluralism, the national and public interest, and restoring accountability.
Who is conducting negotiations with the DP for the elections on behalf of the PL?
Ilir Meta: On behalf of the PL, the Secretary General Mr. Tedi Blushi is tasked with pursuing cooperation with the opposition, as is the Chairman of the National Steering Committee, Mr. Edmond Haxhinasto.
Will you be on the DP's list for MP?
Ilir Meta: In any case, I will be a deputy of those who have trusted and voted for me since 2005 and onwards.
But my main objective is the overthrow of the Narco-Regime where the State has not only merged with the Party, as the OSCE-ODIHR has also claimed, but where the State is run by a criminal organization, as former Deputy Prime Minister Ahmetaj also proved with facts.
How much will being in custody prevent you from campaigning on May 11? Who will lead the PL campaign?
Ilir Meta: It is likely that the arrest was made for the electoral needs of the criminal organization to hinder me as President of the PL and the PL itself as an opposition force.
But this situation is only motivating for me and PL to fight with determination to restore the freedom and dignity of all Albanians who are not only physically in prison and who do not feel free in their country, in their work, in their business and in their lives.
May 11 is a historic date that calls on all honest and patriotic Albanians to unite all efforts so that their children do not remain without a homeland or feel alien and oppressed in the land of their ancestors.
I lead the Freedom Party and its campaign as its elected President last April, in collaboration with all of its colleagues and forums.
Likewise, our program was made public on April 27, 2024. Also, the criteria for candidates for deputies have been approved in the most transparent manner by the National Steering Committee and each will be evaluated according to their performance in this decisive battle with the Narcoregime.
Do you have a number of MPs that you expect after these elections?
Ilir Meta: The main objective is the victory of the Opposition and undoubtedly the representation of the PL will be very dignified.
Was there a problem in the party with your arrest? I ask this question because some of the PL figures are no longer active in these months, and some of them were not even at the protest that was organized for you in front of SPAK?
Ilir Meta: Those who go "secretly" to SPAK and the regime's offices are not free people for their faults and character and cannot harm the Freedom Party.
