The Chairman of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has spoken about the tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump's administration on European countries, including Albania.
Through a media conference, Berisha said that after the May 11 elections, the DP government (if it wins) will hold open negotiations with the US on tariffs, writes A2 CNN.
He also said that he was optimistic, since according to him, for Albania, at first glance, lower tariffs were used than for other countries. According to him, the same thing is true for Kosovo.
Excerpt from Berisha's speech:
The DP government, after May 11, will have on its agenda open, transparent negotiations with the US government on the issue of tariffs.
I am optimistic, because if you have noticed that, at first glance, lower tariffs were used for Albania than in other countries, the same is true for Kosovo.
So I have this comment about the fees.
I want to tell you one thing. Since this issue came up, I have been following it, but what have I found? In some serious articles, I have found that other countries had imposed much higher tariffs on American products than the US had imposed on their countries. This was a completely impartial study, I could even say a study from a line that is not very much in this orientation.
If a non-American car was taxed at 3% in the US, an American car was taxed at 10%, three times that. But realistically, I can say that there was a country that had a 17% tariff, while the US had a 3% tariff for them. The issue of tariffs is a global issue that cannot be unilateral, it cannot be approached unilaterally because the impact it has on production is known.
What you heard here, 'Made in Albania' is the fundamental direction of the time for the economy. Production, production, production. Because the uneven distribution of production, the decline only after the financial component, risks an unsustainable economy.
So this is my comment on tariffs, negotiations, negotiations, negotiations, after May 11th. (A2 Televizion)
