"The action has nothing to do with Rama's statements" - Mayor of

The Municipality and the Vlora Police have launched an action to vacate unjustly occupied public spaces.

The Mayor of Vlora, Ermal Dredha, has stated that these are long-overdue works that should have been done long ago, writes A2 CNN.

When asked if this action came after Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements a few days ago, Dredha denied such a thing, but added that this is a joint effort in service of the community.

He also said that more value should be given to shared public spaces in the city of Vlora.

Excerpts from the discussion:

Dredha: "Normally it should have been done in time. These have been carried over for many years now. But also the logic of what we have been conveying for a long time, that we need to promote tourism and Vlora as a tourist destination, we definitely need to give greater value to the part of public spaces. Even where there is any delay in terms of approval or contracts that may have been given in different ways during these years, we will look at the possibility of how we will release them, in order to return them to the community again. We did it now, because now we see it more reasonable to take concrete measures to do something."

Question: "Why now, or after Rama's statement?"

Dredha: "It has nothing to do with statements, it has everything to do with everyone's commitment. They were occupied last year too and we must do our best to return the spaces to the citizens. There were no contracts for the Navy School. You can see the result, they have been removed." (A2 Televizion)
