The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted after Prime Minister Edi Rama's statements to SPAK, regarding the arrest of Mayor Erion Veliaj.
Bardhi, through a statement, states that the real fight against government corruption is the only opportunity for Albania to move forward on its path to European integration.
Bardhi also writes that Prime Minister Edi Rama has the same fate as Mayor Erion Veliaj and, according to him, this has enraged him over the last 48 hours, writes A2 CNN.
He continues by writing that Rama is not worried about the fate of Erion Veliaj, but according to him, the prime minister is afraid of the fact that he is no longer untouchable.
Bardhi's reaction:
The real fight against government corruption is the only chance for Albania to move forward on its path to European integration. Edi Rama's rage against justice in these 48 hours is only about the fact that he is realizing that his end is connected and the same as Erion Veliaj! Because the corrupt have the same end.....in prison!
It would be enough:
· 100 thousand euros in cash found in the office of Erion Veliaj's wife (the amount is the mayor's total salary in 4 years);
· 850 thousand euros only online purchases;
· 1 million and 100 thousand euros in benefits in just 9 episodes during the exercise of his duties;
· 850 thousand euros seized in bank accounts;
· a professional prosecutor and judge determined to fight corruption,
so that Albanians could see the true face of Edi Rama in relation to justice.
Erion Veliaj was and remains a symbol of corruption in Albania!
With the blessing and help of Edi Rama, he quickly transformed into the man who abandoned the interest of Albanian citizens and especially the citizens of Tirana, to care only for his personal well-being and that of his family. According to the data in the file, he turns out to be not only corrupt, but also the only public official in office who has dared to intimidate witnesses, investigators or prosecutors in writing, with the sole purpose of continuing to enjoy the untouchable status.
But, Edi and Erion's rage occurs for different reasons. While Erion Veliaj is furious that he lost his untouchable status, Edi Rama is not concerned by Erion Veliaj's arrest or his loss of his untouchable status.
Edi Rama is worried because he understands what I have always said, since the first day of the establishment of special structures, that in Albania there are prosecutors and judges who arrest even without Edi Rama's permission, or that there are honest, independent and integrity prosecutors and judges who take the fight against corruption seriously.
Edi Rama would need prosecutors and judges who blackmail, threaten and give certificates of honesty to Ols Rama without any investigation, who do not fight the real corruption that is taking Albania's breath away, or who take orders from the offices of the Socialist Party. But, for Albanians, it is many times better to see Edi Rama gasping for breath, screaming, gnashing his old teeth, than to continue with the corrupt who have taken Albania's breath away in 12 years.
