The Chairman of the Democratic Party was placed on "Debate" despite the fact that in December last year, in the same studio, he had declared that he would remodel the justice system after consulting with the Venice Commission.
Given his statement today that he will dissolve SPAK with the coming to power of the DP, moderator Alba Alishani demanded to know why this major change in Berisha's stance towards the new judiciary has occurred.
Berisha responded by saying that if he accepted a political prosecution, then he would betray the opposition.
"There is absolutely nothing except what I said here in December. If I were to accept this Prosecutor as he is, I would be a traitor, the biggest in the history of oppositionism in Albania. I have here three international resolutions. Which brand SPAK as a political prosecutor. If I, as an opposition member, were to accept a political prosecutor, I would accept a great disaster for my country," Berisha said in "Debat" by Alba Alishani, on A2 CNN.
To reinforce his stance on the merger of SPAK, Berisha took US President Donald Trump as an example.
"Three days ago Donald Trump dissolved the New York prosecutor's office. Two days ago Donald Trump fired all the prosecutors appointed by Joe Biden. Because they have only proven political prosecutors, nothing else.
