"I'm not leaving because I have a war to finish", Rama responds

Prime Minister Edi Rama has responded to critics who are calling for him to step down, emphasizing that he is not leaving because "there is a war to be finished."

"Some ask me why I don't leave? Others answer: He doesn't leave because he is greedy. Sometimes when the filth, the poison, the noise become a big commotion, I ask myself "what do I still want that I stay and wear these excrements of depraved mouths, half-hearted minds and poor souls on my face and for what reason should my family endure this medieval cruelty. The answer is as simple as it is irrefutable within me: I don't leave because I have a war to finish. I have never said it, but the rain and mud of the Sharra cemeteries got me into this war. When I came back from France to see my father off, when I returned home after the funeral it was as if I had returned from war. With mud up to my knees. That's why I couldn't escape the temptation to say YES to Fatos Nano's call to join the government", Rama said.

"Then the path of political life, the written fate brought me to the head of the Municipality of Tirana, just when the mud and dust of an uncontrolled state had gathered. Where every free palm was occupied and trees fell every day like a man shot. The fight in the face of filth and a sea of prejudice will make Albania the new EU state in 2030. This one of mine is a fight with history and for history," Rama added. (A2 Televizion)
