Two candidates of Tom Doshi's Social Democratic Party for the Lezha region have withdrawn from the electoral race for the May 11 elections. A2 CNN learns that Leonard Trokthi and Etmond Stojani, part of the PSD's open list, have submitted their official resignations to the CEC, bringing the total number of candidates withdrawn from the electoral race to 17.
In the official documents submitted, both candidates justify their withdrawal with "current inability to engage in the election campaign", emphasizing that the decision is irrevocable.
However, their names will continue to remain on the ballot, due to deadlines for printing and distributing election materials. Trokthi and Stojani were part of a list of 7 PSD candidates for this district.
