EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos symbolically presented Prime Minister Edi Rama with the European Union jersey with number 11. While bringing to attention Nedim Bajrami's quick goal against Italy in the European Championship last year, she emphasized that this showed how fast Albanians are in European integration.
Kos invited Rama to climb Albania's highest mountain, Korabi, together after the unification negotiations were completed.
"My commitment is also sporting, I come from a sporting family. We have also watched the European Football Championship and I have learned how fast you are and Nedim Bajrami scored the goal in 23 seconds, it was the goal against Italy and this showed how fast you are in European integration. Football plays an important role in the life of Albanian society, while basketball played a special role in your lives, my gift to you today is symbolic, it is for all of Albania and we want Albania to become part of the EU. It is my number and that is why we gave you the number 11 in Europe. When we finish the negotiations, I will climb the highest mountain in Albania, we will reach the Korab mountain which is higher even than our biggest mountain in Slovenia. But I would really like you to come with me."
The Prime Minister replied that when we enter the EU, he will give us a new and fresh prime minister who will rise to the highest peak.
