"No longer as a Serbian citizen", Kurti: Correct the registrations in

Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti said on Wednesday that after more than 17 years, Kosovars living in Germany will no longer be registered as Serbian citizens. He called on all compatriots to correct the citizenship registration in their documents, KosovaPress reports.

At the government cabinet meeting, Kurti said that this news was announced yesterday by the Kosovo embassy in Germany.

"After more than 17 years, a solution has been reached with the relevant German authorities regarding the issue of registration of Kosovo citizens. Many of you have been unfairly forced to register as citizens of Serbia in German documentation, something that will no longer happen from today. I would like to express my deep gratitude to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, which has worked with dedication to negotiate and secure this important and much-needed change. Thanks to their engagement with the German Federal Chancellery and relevant ministries, an instruction has now been adopted that ensures that all citizens of Kosovo are registered only as citizens of the Republic of Kosovo," he declared.

The acting Prime Minister called on all compatriots to correct the citizenship registration in their documents.

"This change has entered into force in all German states and over 5,200 civil registry centers. Therefore, our esteemed compatriots in Germany, we call on you to verify and, if necessary, correct the citizenship registration in your documents," he added, according to KosovaPress.

At the cabinet meeting, Kurti said that during his mandate, the government has approved a total of 2,200 decisions, of which 319 were approvals of draft laws. Albin Kurti began his address on Wednesday with a tribute to photojournalist Alban Bujari, who died a few days ago. (A2 Televizion)
