In the "Debate" studio hosted by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN, Pandeli Majko was faced with questions that highlighted the lack of debate and voices against the leader in the Socialist Party.

The former Prime Minister responded by saying that journalists and analysts are looking for debates and clashes like those that led to the separation of Ilir Meta and his group from the Socialist Party in 2005, but that according to Majko, they have reflected on such situations after suffering defeats in two elections.

"The more years a leader spends in a leadership position, the more there is a conformism. You think that there is no debate there. It is not true. There is debate. In the conditions where we are in power, you want a debate like the one you saw in that famous KPD. You think that I have some great boast about the debate that took place in the KPD. We reaped the seeds of that debate in 2005, we lost the elections. At that moment, people lost faith that we were serious people in the way we dealt with their destinies internally," said Majko in "Debat" by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN.

Majko then revealed that one of the topics debated in the Socialist Party was the draft law on the legalization of medical cannabis, which he personally refused to vote for in the Assembly.

"There was a vote, there was a division, just as there was a union. Do you think that with Ed Rama there were no debates. It happened in Congress, half of the delegates left the hall. Or recently. Or in a word, should we feel guilty for not getting into a fight. Aaaa debate?! Rama debates as a rule and with his clothes on. The problem is that you don't see debates in public. Let me tell you something, we had a very old debate with Rama, about the cannabis business, for example, about the bill that was passed recently on legal cannabis. I was against it, I abstained in Parliament. Currently, we are issuing licenses for planting cannabis. If cannabis is planted 200 m away from the plot where the license was issued, the headman, the head of the family, and the dangerous neighbor who did not report it are arrested. We will either make planting cannabis in Albania an unlicensed criminal offense. Or we cannot have this double situation where we give medical cannabis licenses, where our Criminal Code even puts the headman in prison if two planted roots are found. I'm telling you an example of a debate. How do you like the debate, should we draw our swords in the middle?", Majko revealed in "Debat" by Alba Alishani on A2 CNN. (A2 Televizion)
