Prime Minister Edi Rama, during a meeting with students and professors in Vlora, emphasized that, although there have been cases where politicians and high-ranking figures have suffered the consequences of their actions, there has not yet been a case where a person in power has been convicted by an independent court in Albania.
The socialist leader added that this is an objective that should become an unquestionable norm in our country, writes A2.
"Equality before the law must be guaranteed regardless of the economic or political power of people. There have been prime ministers who have committed suicide under pressure from the government or ministers who have been shot or convicted, but there has been no case where a prosecutor has brought a person in power to court and been convicted by an independent court," Rama said.
"This must become the norm, but for this, this effort with justice must be defended by Albanian politicians. While today the Socialist Party defends it, this does not mean that there is no turning back. There will be no turning back only if we enter the European Union," the prime minister added.
